Glee Creator Ryan Murphy Might Direct ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Remake
ShareReally? I mean fucking really?
DO NOT TOUCH A FUCKING CLASSIC
From Geektyrant
It's looking like Glee creator Ryan Murphy may end up developing a remake of the cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is one of those films where I seriously don't see the need for a remake. The original movie has already reached legendary cult status, so what is the reason behind trying to remake it? You would think the hardcore fans are going to hate it.
I don't really care whose behind the project, just because TV show Glee has a solid following, it doesn't justify the remake of this cult classic. Murphy just got finished filming his Glee episode dedication the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, now Fox 2000 is trying to get him on board to take on the project.
The Rocky Horror Picture show came out in 1975 and to this day it still still sells out at midnight shows to fans. The show was written by cast member Richard O'Brien and director Jim Sharman. It launched the careers of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick and had a cast that included O'Brien, Nell Campbell and Meat Loaf.
Murphy has not committed to the project yet. On top of Glee he is also looking at directing another film called the Normal Heart with Mark Ruffalo. Sony Pictures also paid him a cool $5 million bucks to write and direct a romantic comedy, that would star Julia Roberts. He's got a good amount of work on his plate, so will he add one more big project to it, that he may end up getting a lot of crap for?
I'm sorry but I dont care how fucking great the Glee episode is, do not remake RHPS
MTV tried to remake it 2 years ago and thankfully that fell on its arse.
