Oscars

Share
Watched the Oscars last night, 1st time id ever watched them live, it was... so so experience, i did get tired of hearing "and the winner is... slumdog millionaire"

However there was one moment that really stood out for me (apart from Hugh Jackmans opening number) and it was Dustin Lance Blacks acceptance speech when he won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for "Milk".

and im guessing that maybe the "academy" will be taking down unofficial videos from youtube, so its gone by the time you read this, here is the part that i loved the most:

But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he would want me to say to all of the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told that they are less than by their churches or by the government or by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value, and that no matter what anyone tells you God does love you and that very soon I promise you, you will have equal rights federally across this great nation of ours. Thank you and thank you God for giving us Harvey Milk.

Thats the sorta speech you wanna hear on a globally transmitted show.
