You may have noticed im a bit of a fan of Calvin & Hobbes and that i am also a Star Wars fan.(if you read this blog at all... you might noticed these things)
So imagine my delight at discovering THIS tshirt:
Its a pity Bill Watterson didn't make Calvin & Hobbes merchandise, but its rather nice to see fanboys have taken an initiative and made their own.
Got a brother/boyfriend/son/father who is a fanboy and difficult to buy presents for.
Then take a look at flashrods.com. Flashrods apparently "make the coolest hard drive cars"
Bold statement, but i'm not sure there is a lot of competition in the hard drives shaped like cars market.
Well just in case the market gets to crowded Flashrods have played their trump card already.
When it comes to having an external hard drive, having one that looks like the Delorean from BTTF3 is a winner. Now having to pay $250 for a 500gb external hardrive IS a bit steep... I mean they could have at least included HiDef rips of the movie with it.
But its one for the extreme fanboys so i guess that's why it makes it the IDEAL Christmas present.
Each of these keychains hides a cool secret. The diecast TARDIS keychain unscrews to reveal a secret cash compartment, the other two keychains are mini flashlights: one fashioned like the 10th Doctor's sonic screwdriver, the other a red Dalek.
Here is a recently found photo from the set of Star Wars with George Lucas directing Greedo who happens to be wearing some uncomfortable and ugly looking high heels.
My view of Greedo is now completely changed. I'll never watch Star Wars again without thinking that Greedo is wearing high heels.
Koona t'chuta, Solo? Always though it meant "going somewhere Solo?" Maybe it should be "my heels are killing me Solo" *click on image for larger version
Graphic Designer Matt Ranzetta comes up with quiet an interesting concept. Using Imagery from Star Wars he creates movie posters for other movies but yet still manages to make them fit the star wars universe.
I think they are amazing, and I'd love a print of EMPIRE OF THE SUN
Yes this song has probably been played to death in the last 4-5 years, taking a once great song and having it tarnished by being overplayed and overused.
The song has appeared in a number of film and television series, including The Wedding Singer, Scrubs, Family Guy, Monster, Shrek the Halls, Bedtime Stories, The Losers, Yes Dear, King of the Hill, South Park, Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, My Name Is Earl, Just Shoot Me, Laguna Beach and its even been gayified and became THEE Glee song
On Youtube there are probably 100's of fan made videos for both the original and Glee versions
But i recently stumbuled across this video, which is one of the earliest mash ups i could find of the song and simply put... it's Genius
Only one slight problem with that T-Shirt, It doesn't exist anymore, Teefury have a policy of one day and then its gone with the t-shirts they sell on their website. It was yesterdays T-Shirt :(
I am a huge Calvin & Hobbes fan, I can sit and read their comic strip all day long simply because its clever and very witty.
This is a fan edit of one of their strips, The story being I guess that Calvins parents have decided that he suffers from ADD and he has been prescribed Ritalin
Will he abandon his closest and dearest friend... Read and find out.
I have to admit... I kinda got a little choked up at the genius of that fan edit.
Unfortunately these dont exist.. but why don't they? Doctor Who and legos are a perfect combination. Give me a box of blue and white legos and the 1st thing id make would be a tardis :D
Also i'd love to see a Lego Doctor Who game... those games are SOOOOOO much fun
I've watched this trailer about 10 times... I've no idea what's going on. So many questions about it. Why is there a shark in that room? Why is Amy wearing her Policeman's Uniform? Why is Amy wearing said uniform on what appears to be a futuristic spaceship? Why is Rory dressed like a centurion again? Is "Time can be re written" a continuing story arc? Can I wait till Dec 25th to see this?
Yay for Doctor Who Making christmas day awesome is all I have to say.
Two Trailers for next weeks Who heavy Sarah Jane Adventures have been released.
First is the " Coming Next Week " Trailer
And this is the Official Trailer from the CBBC website:
Ok, I'm starting off... if U.N.I.T thought the Doctor was actually dead... you mean to tell me that Sarah Jane and Jo Grant are the only two companions that they were able to track down?
From Geektyrant It's looking like Glee creator Ryan Murphy may end up developing a remake of the cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is one of those films where I seriously don't see the need for a remake. The original movie has already reached legendary cult status, so what is the reason behind trying to remake it? You would think the hardcore fans are going to hate it.
I don't really care whose behind the project, just because TV show Glee has a solid following, it doesn't justify the remake of this cult classic. Murphy just got finished filming his Glee episode dedication the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, now Fox 2000 is trying to get him on board to take on the project.
The Rocky Horror Picture show came out in 1975 and to this day it still still sells out at midnight shows to fans. The show was written by cast member Richard O'Brien and director Jim Sharman. It launched the careers of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick and had a cast that included O'Brien, Nell Campbell and Meat Loaf.
Murphy has not committed to the project yet. On top of Glee he is also looking at directing another film called the Normal Heart with Mark Ruffalo. Sony Pictures also paid him a cool $5 million bucks to write and direct a romantic comedy, that would star Julia Roberts. He's got a good amount of work on his plate, so will he add one more big project to it, that he may end up getting a lot of crap for?
I'm sorry but I dont care how fucking great the Glee episode is, do not remake RHPS MTV tried to remake it 2 years ago and thankfully that fell on its arse.
The great thing about the internet is that, it has taken every drunken or stoner conversation that has ever taken place and helped move it towards reality.
In this case it took the question "Dude... if they made a live action version of 80s Tv Classic Defenders Of The Earth, who would play the main cast?" and answered it with a mash up fan fiction trailer.
Ok, so... a few things.
Bruce Willis as Flash Gordon? Are you for fucking real? He is way too old to play Flash.Even with having a son whos 17-18 he is waaaaaaaaay to old. Daniel Craig however would be spot on. Christian Bale as Mandrake is perfect casting and although you left out his assistant Kshin I would suggest Dev Patel in the role. And while I agree Vin Diesel is a good call... I would suggest Rampage Jackson for Lothar, he is the perfect Big Angry Black Guy for the role.
One of my other favourite BBC made sci fi shows was Red Dwarf (lets not mention the Back To Earth Specials ok)
Its hard to describe why i like it so much, its just random, daft and very silly. It was so good there was even an abortive attempt at a US remake (I didn't think Star Trek: Voyager was that bad however)
As with with everything these days the Internet has seen fit to smash two worlds together.
So here is a Dwarfian version of the Doctor Who Intro for Trial of a Time Lord
They seem to merge a bit too well.
If you don't think so, try Remembrance of The Daleks ala Red Dwarf
Check out the youtube channel of elixaristhedragon for more of the same along with some classic Who re scored using the music of Murray Gold
Environmental organisations today expressed outrage over a plan by local authorities in the Abruzzo region of central Italy to combat prostitution with deforestation.
For decades, local law enforcement and politicians have struggled to police the Bonifica del Tronto road, a haven for the sex trade that runs inland for more than 10 miles from the Adriatic coast alongside the river Tronto. Over the years, cameras have been installed, raids mounted, 24-hour patrols implemented and the mayors of towns near the road have signed bylaws imposing fines on prostitutes' clients. All to no avail.
At the end of last month, the regional government's public works chief, Angelo Di Paolo, announced that the time had come for drastic measures. He said he had agreed with provincial and municipal representatives to cut down all the vegetation "around and along the banks [of the river Tronto]", in which the prostitutes ply their trade.
A local authority "ought to contribute to the solution of problems relating to law and order," said Di Paolo. But in a statement three environmental groups, including the WWF, said that the scheme would destroy 28 hectares (69 acres) of woodland vital to local ecosystems, saying the only crime of the thousands of trees on the local authorities' hit list had been to "offer with their fronds shelter and intimacy to sex slaves".
As everyone knows prostitutes are the most cunning of all woodland creatures, best to get them out now before they start foraging and storing food for the winter.
Also get rid of the "Cespuglio amoroso della prostituta" a nasty evergreen that has been known to "offer with their fronds shelter and intimacy to sex slaves"
Ever wonder what happened to the guy who made Batman: Dead End way back in 2003 ? Well it seems he released his first film called Hunter Prey earlier this year....
My simple review is... Batman: Dead End is far superior than this drawn out piece of shit. I've seen better made Star Wars fan flicks... seriously the costumes even seem to be a mix of Boba Fett meets Clone Trooper. It reminds me of countless different sci fi shows/stories I've seen over the years. When Sandy Collora and Nick Damon sat down to write the screenplay for this film I have a feeling they may have watched one or two of the following Deep Space Nine - Rocks and Shoals, Star Trek TOS - Arena, The Outer Limits - The Light Brigade and Enemy Mine
I know Sandy Collora only had a budget of $425000 dollars for this film, which is minuscule budget for a Sci Fi film, however even with a bigger budget i don't see this film being any better. As I've said before, I have seen better fanboy movies... point in case, the above mentioned Batman:Dead End.
Its the story that totally lets him down. It bored me, I really didn't care about any of the characters in this movie which I think comes from the introduction of Intergalactic war as the main plot point FIFTY MINUTES into the story. It was too drawn out, better if it was a 42 minute long Outer Limits episode.
Final words: Please try harder or go back to making mind blowing fan flicks.
